One of Those Weeks (x3)

Barr gets his minute. Good stuff!
Mike has been out of town, and I'm about 2/3 of the way through working a 20 day stint. (excuses, excuses)
Jackyl emailed me an update on the Plymouth Skate Park:
"Attached is the proposed Plymouth park/construction bid that was approved by City Council Tuesday. They are doing ground prep over the next week and construction is anticipated to start Sept. 6 with park completed mid-to-late October. To summarize the presentation, the budget was about $190,000, and you will see the park divided into sections by price. The bowl area doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

There are a lot of details in what they are building that I am hoping to get tweaked to make it as versatile as possible, in other words use the budget to make every piece of cement skateable in as many ways as possible. I do see a lot of things that could be adjusted so we’ll see what happens. As always, a lot of room to screw things up if things are too steep or mellow, too tall or small, etc. The “P” should be a good time and pretty hard to screw up (but again, too steep/mellow ruins it)."
Link to plans (sorry it's a weird fileshare site, blogger doesn't have any option for PDF's)
I'm a little surprised Jackyl hasn't lobbied for a Lil' Caesars to be built on the site.
Personally I'm not counting on anything until it's done and I see it with my own eyes.
CRITICAL, man.

Been slacking. Happy weekend.

GITBUCK.

The Plat commends jerboi Vinnie Nanthavongsa, who we desperately need a video part from in the near future, for his documentation and incredible camera work while he got an incredibly long pin pulled from his hand. While the injury(ies) leading up this weren't skate related, this display of really-not-as-gross-as-I'd-thought-it'd be amazingness seemed apropos. That said, I may not watch that ever again.

Video lifted from Devolve.

R(es)t In Peace

The Cool Kids get plaza'd. Thanks to Pete Spooner for the video.

It makes sense, but it doesn't. Rumors are flying that Es Footwear is closing shop by spring 2012. Their website is business as usual. More industry head-scratchers. Leibman is devastated.

No, no, no NO NO!

Almost Weekly Updates!

Art show at the shop this Saturday. Come out and talk about skateboarding and drink beer and look at art.

I think it would be pretty interesting if I took one of these "Young Heck" shirts for an extended test drive. Also: The Culvert.

The Jackal has been working with the city of Plymouth so they don't blow it on their forthcoming skate plaza (photo via Lurkers Digest, not sure how much the design has morphed since April). Word is the city wants the plaza completed by mid-October, and the same people who built the St. Cloud plaza are slated to build this one. Jackal has made sure ledge heights have been toned down, and is trying to make sure that no space is wasted. We'll also see if he gets a square bowl out of the deal. Fingers crossed.

Ayo property tax refund? Where are you? Same goes for my intern...

Signed, Sealed.

Just a cool photo...

Luke links to Ragsdale's photos from last month's BUBD 4. Good times but the Rags took off too early.

Oh contract work. McGuire gets photo credit in the Time's Home & Garden section, but I have a feeling it's only going to be a resume builder.

Take a trip down the rabbit's hole with the amazing Longform.org. One gem found there is this '92 Village Voice write up about Gator. If one must quibble, Corey Johnson spelled "lien" wrong.

As I write this, it's still Davis' birthday. Happy birthday fewl.

CJ's beard continues to amaze.
