Kings of Promotion

Dare we say that this is Davis' finest all-around offering since Boondoggle? It would have been completely acceptable to simply ollie those steps at Northrup, too. Speaking of Familia, did I see Mike Roebke's truck parked outside the HQ today?

only critique is they cut the roll away too early on the fakie frontside flip into that big bank...he was just about to carve a wall at top speed and then it cuts to a clip where hes rolling the same direction but at -8x the speed (back smith type trick) ... bummer

that was really really stellar though dog gamn!!!

It's a fine overall offering certainly; however, what this part and his Boondoggle part lack are manuals, and there was a manual in his "Time to Ride" part, so it's a tough call to make.
And on a half-related note, it must finally be revealed that the 15-stair at Northrop that he nollies down has a manly and marble and perfect ollie-out ledge that runs parallel to it, a ledge that has yet to be skated, a ledge that you would've thought Jake Johnson would fs-tailslide before he went through his Static IV transformation, a transformation which, I guess, values wallies over car hoods more than it does manly fs-tailsides. So it seems that somebody else will have to step up.
And I still dig Jake Johnson; I'm just a little confused about him.

you're serious with the manual call out? I'm more confused about this comment than you are about Jake Johnson, which also confused me.....

I'm totally serious about the manual call out, Mr. sprntrl! Because if we're talking about "finest all-around" offering, then I shape my judgements on whether a part has at least one handrail, one ledge, one manual, one line, and one stair set -- that is, assuming that there is evidence that the skater, at one time or another, has skated each obstacle.
And Davis indeed -- at one time or another -- has skated each such obstacle, and thus I settle on his "Time to Ride" part as his finest offering.
And I say all this with a smile, with no harsh feelings.

i think manuals are a waste of time and generally hate seeing them in videos. but who really gives a shit, you can never really tell what someones skating is like and what theyre capable of unless you skate with them.... videos are great, exposure is great, turning pro is great. but that stuff isnt skateboarding. skateboarding is something sacred and fleeting and RADICAL. rock on davis.
