No Nollie Heels...But Nikes.

Chris Burt and Co. do Plymouth by night and it turns out pretty darn good. Jack Olson is featured, who just had some really kind words printed about him in the latest issue of Skateboarder; even his name on the fold out (the park style curmudgeons should be proud)! Hat-tip to AC who notes there are lights until 8:30 p.m. Post-title hat-tip to inane commentators in the comments section.

Where's my intern?

  4. It's hardly inane to draw attention to the stagnation and tendency toward mediocrity re: the flood of content (in my opinion, inane) that has defined popular skateboarding for X years. Familia Boutique Skateshop, being at the top of the totem-pole of local-skating visibility, is not living up to its responsibility integrity- and creativity-wise (a fish basically too big to fry here). The issues of questionable ethics and morality tied to Nike's throwing their enormous hat into the ring of skateboarding have been swept under the rug and basically become a non-issue for so many people strutting their affluence and indifference. Say what you will, these are my two cents, welcomed or un-.

  5. Your two cents are more than welcome. I'd like to hear what Familia isn't living up to and how it could do better. Those things are definitely worth pointing out. As for skateboard content trending towards mediocrity, I mostly agree with you on that, though I stand by my assertion that I enjoyed watching a video of people that I enjoy watching skateboard. As for Nike, I give you credit for caring, but myself, I'm far too gone. It's lazy of me to say, "They ain't going away, so why bother," and that's exactly what I say in this case.

  6. I don't want to raise too much dust in a public forum where not everyone is asking for my input. If you want to e mail me at babyskateboards@yahoo.com, I would be happy to exchange a couple thoughts in earnest. Thanks.

  8. Have a heart, its me dog (sic and sic). Baby Skateboards is an out-of-pocket venture, and currently on hiatus since an AZ small-business owning skateboarder refused to reimburse a 700$ order of defective-glue skateboard decks that left us pockets inside-out (+ moths). No chance of a corporate bailout like Nike's that largely funded a 23 million $ bonus to an unnamed CEO. This article outlines some of Nike's business ethics:
