Stay Gold

Was taking notes to do a review, then I figured I'd just scan them in. Took about the same amount of time. My handwriting has gone to hell. Thanks i-tunes.

Odds and Ends, Friends

The last weekend before real-life kicks in (for me at least) is on the horizon; looks like a part of Friday night is locked in, with plenty of local skate heads who also design being involved. Nesser handled that demonstration.

If you're not in the TC this Friday but closer to the KC, this is your Friday plan.

If a skate contest leaves the area and no one is around to hear it, did it really even matter the past couple of years?

Back to watching Brazil give team USA some trouble!

Mr. Alva's Opus

No clue why Meyer chose Ace of Base for this one, but all's well. Barrel jumping is way scary. This was in 2006* if memory serves.

Also, photos and recap of my trip to NYC last week I was in, and then out.

*Nope, not 1996.

Whoville, Same As Ever (Like Always)

Tim, Pete and Phil are going to have to come up with a name for their triumvirate if things keep going the way they seem they could. I should try to get a clip for Flow Trash but, well, I'm afraid of where it'd end up anymore. Credits? That'd be dope.

Jerboi Tucklemenot has some photos from "Ghost Ride" given what appears to be a film treatment.

Killed my hard drive today because of what seemed like trying to stream MPR and look at the internet at the same time. Twas a bummer but, as that universal law goes, now I know the value of seriously backing your shit up. Oh well; gained about 100 gigs in memory and things seem to move faster, but my computer is as dingy as ever.

As mentioned in the previous post, damn, that Etnies video really should have won out (expounding further now that I'm back on the laptop). Even though it makes Meyer and I's idea for a 1992 Shitheads section passe, that shit was really, really on point. Fun to watch, not overdone and not even bordering on pretentious, it kind of covered what everybody is doing skating when there's not a camera around [you know what I mean (and not everyone rips that hard)]. Still, I think Bledsoe and Rojo need to commit to an all Blind jeans and hi-8 part that pulls no stops; I'd download that for three bucks, gladly.

Final note: could the screen grab on the video above be any better? Narloch for daze.

Mystic Wedgie

Good contest, good turnout. More if I can fix my normal computer, otherwise we might have a Plat blackout. It's a bummer; I just paid rent on the URL!

Also, Etnies had the best Skate and Create, and it totally would have worked if T-Blood or Joe Red had come up in the mid-nineties.

Lifted from The High Five blog, where Todd kills it.

The Dudes Are Who We Thought They Were

Lazy days and dwindling summer-but hey, I know those dudes! Renaissance men Matt Bollis and John Lindsay made the frontpage of Crailtap via getting awesome. I guess that link only works through the end of the day.

That potentially epic Volcom demo is tomorrow.

This Kyle Berard clip is good.

I like Pizzy's trippo-vision. Keep 'em coming.

Gonna be in NYC soon. Edit: I think.

Excessive Hype

Yeah Tabari! Happy Friday the 13th, I already had a flat tire on the whip today. Happy weekend for that matter too.

Da Brat and McGuire team up to go Deuces Wild and keep people appropriately confused.

I can't think of anyone else who is more apropos for 140 characters or less. Follow Nesser on Twitter. Shit, while you're at it, follow TheRealPlat too, we're way not that boring.

The Coastal Carnage video at TSM is radical.

Sherman Vs. Sunday, Redux

More old content recycled; it was a typical day shredding for pre-ink Sherman and you know that kickflip boardslide was warm-ups-ville. I wish I'd have skated more of those Manchesters. Gonna say it all happened on a Sunday in summer of 2006.

Badger finally got Biebel's World up and running. Let the prank calls begin! Now he can get back to that other website of his.

Rumor has it that The Glue Factory is about to get way more Jah-blessed. Following.

Shouts to mostly Henkler at The Hesh for keeping things interesting as of late. On a related note, I totally know who this chick is, good find Henkzilla.

Oh yeah, since I'm propping up the homie blogs, Wiskate has been spitting hot fire lately!

Dog Days

Coolest game I've ever been to. I'll try harder at blogging tomorrow.

Prepare to have your mind blown. Go here, and listen to the song that matches the post title.

Milwaukeecentric But Worldwide

More videos from times since passed. This is the first excursion to The Best Place On Earth, aka Cream City. Skaters include your humble blogger, Luke Hunt, Spencer Pratti, John Rock, Jackal, Nate, Helmet Dudes, and Mike Robke. Heading out there at the end of the month? I hope so.

Jerboi D Bong gets some voice action from Mikey Ass Wednesdaze but doesn't fall for Badger's fuckin' app. I got beta tested on that shit myself.

Here's an idea: a Junior Mint sound board app. You know that would crush the world. Badger, get to work.

Its not that uncommon to be skating downtown at night and see chicks, presumably from the 'burbs, lost over by Government Center, looking for the clubs. I love that shit.

Having spoken of Milwaukee, the dudes there have been having quite the rollercoaster ride involving the rediscovery of The Turf Skatepark. Check the Wiskate link above for info straight from the horse's mouth, and I've been doing my best to chronicle all of it at my TSM blog. At the very least, hit up the Save The Turf Facebook page and "like" that thing; it functions as an online petition. We all know we want a chance to skate that stuff some day.

Happy Weekend.

Roots In Duluth

Found some video gems from the past. I think this was in 2005.

Its Anthropological

This incredible sustained heat, a waning summer rapidly approaching Dog Day status, and my temporary perch in Uptown all logically lead to this quote:
I write to you at one of the three peak seasons for girl-watching in North America. Sweater-sheathed Ms. October will knock 'em out in the fall, and the darling buds of May will spring fresh in their sundresses all too shortly, but meanwhile this is sultry deep August—impossibly flimsy fabrics, exquisite lengths of limb. Addled by murderous heat, provoked by brutal hot-to-trotness, I here risk gathering some modest notes on visual experience and modern manners.
Read the rest of A Dandy's Guide To Girl Watching here. Thanks again Patterson.

Happy birthday to jerboi Davis, he's 21 now and about to take the club by storm! Also, stalk him on Twitter. Its a big day for the little buddy.
