Chalk this post up to I-tunes on shuffle; one night I awoke from CRAZY nightmares, and, wouldn't you know, the Gravediggaz song that Olson skates to above was playing over the speakers off the computer. Be careful with the "Diary of a Madman" kids. That feels like an allusion to the Evil Dead or something.
(For a short and dirty version of the roof drop-in to boardslide story, it happened at six AM and his girlfriend filmed the trick. There was a 2x4 nailed to the roof at the take off point for whatever reason, and Olson had to ollie over that and then to the left because of a wall. Watch the footage closely; its all there.)
Time to whip out the VCR again.
ReplyDeleteAlmost put Smolik or Muska's part on the Hardflip top10 video part list but didn't... That video as a whole would be on a top 10 list for sure... So hyped when that video was finally out! Good shit. Wish I felt the same way about skating as I did when that video dropped. Even though I wanted to be smolik or muska! Ha! Still rockin the Horty's hoodie with the S's on each of the sleeves! HA!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fitting 1st part in one of the most influential vids of our (skate) generation. I also can't help but think of the preceding Supernatural days. It's haggard, but I still own my T-Wolves Supernatural shirt... Speaking of, wouldn't you and Steve O have been teammates at the time.
